According to Statista, breast augmentation is one of the three most popular cosmetic surgery procedures in Germany. This is hardly surprising, as for many women a full and shapely breast is the epitome of feminine attractiveness. We are happy to be there for you in our Munich practice if you are considering breast augmentation.
Most women who want a breast augmentation, also called a “boob job” or a “breast job”, are between 18 and 35 years old. Some are also slightly older. The reasons are very different:
Some women want bigger breasts,
Emotional reasons often play just as a central role in the decision-making as aesthetic ones. Very small, asymmetrical, or malformed breasts often place a heavy psychological burden on the women concerned. Breast augmentation can help women feel comfortable in their bodies again and go through life with more self-confidence.
Thanks to a 3D simulation, you can find out what you would look like after breast surgery without any obligation. To do this, you upload three photos of yourself so that the software can simulate an image of your body after the operation. However, these pictures only give you a first impression. Prof. Dr. Kovacs will be happy to discuss which changes are actually realistic with you on site.
Every woman is different. That's why it's so important to find exactly the right implants for your body type. Below we present the most important types of implants, which differ mainly in their shape and filling. The choice is yours!
Teardrop-shaped breast implants are modeled after the anatomy of the breast and look very natural. They adapt very well to the breast, but appear somewhat smaller than round implants.

Implants with roughened surfaces have a decisive advantage: they are less likely to slip than implants with a smooth surface. The risk of capsular fibrosis is also significantly reduced. This is why most modern silicone implants have a textured surface.
Saline implants are cheaper than silicone implants, but they have various disadvantages. They look and feel more unnatural. There is also a higher risk of the implants losing fluid. This is why many women choose silicone implants.
For very slim, petite women, large implants can look unnatural. For women with a large chest, on the other hand, small implants may not be effective. It is therefore important to match the size of the implants to the individual woman's figure. Many women who wish to have enhanced breasts have an A cup size. An enlargement to a B is usually not a problem. However, a breast augmentation from A to C is not always possible within one operation - sometimes we have to perform two operations.
In our Munich practice, we also offer modern B-Lite implants, which are 30 percent lighter than conventional silicone implants. They are perfect for women who have weak connective tissue or want significantly larger breasts.
A skin incision allows the breast tissue to be lifted and a pocket to be formed in which the breast implant can be positioned. Depending on the condition of the breast, the implant can be placed in three different locations: under the pectoral muscle (especially in women with little fatty or glandular tissue), under the mammary gland above the pectoral muscle or under the thin surface layer of the muscle.
Your new breasts should please you and fit your body. Prof. Dr. Kovacs will be happy to discuss with you personally which breast implants are right for you. Only if he knows your wishes can he give you honest advice. The aim is to show you what is achievable but also to highlight the limits of modern surgery.
Not everything feasible is also beautiful and low-risk. For example, we often advise against XXL implants. Breast implants with a volume of 600 to 1,500 ml lead to unnatural results, but can also increase the risk of complications.
Are you interested in breast augmentation in Munich, but still not sure whether you would like to have the procedure performed? Prof. Dr. Kovacs will be happy to take the time for a detailed consultation. Here you can ask all your questions and get detailed information. You can then take your time at home to decide whether you would like to have the breast augmentation performed in our practice in Munich.
Another consultation will take place a few days before the operation. You will now be informed about the operation and the follow-up treatment. You will also speak to the anesthetist to determine the anesthesia and go through any special features.
1. Our friendly staff will assign you a room where you can spend the time until the operation. 2. Before the operation, you will have a consultation with specialist Prof. Dr. Kovacs. He will explain the procedure to you once again, answer questions and mark the area to be operated on. 3. You will be given anesthesia in the operating room to ensure that the operation is pain-free. The total duration of the operation varies depending on the complexity of the procedure but usually takes around 1 to 1.5 hours. 4. You will then be taken to the recovery room. Here you will spend a few hours until you have fully recovered from the anesthesia.
You will take painkillers for a few days and wear special compression garments to reduce swelling and promote healing. It is important to follow your surgeon's instructions exactly to avoid complications.
At a personal follow-up appointment, Prof. Dr. Kovacs will check around a week after the operation whether the wound is healing as desired. This is followed by further check-ups at increasing intervals, for example to remove plasters, clarify pain and check the final result.
Here is a small selection of patient testimonials:
When I came for my first follow-up check-up, I had a glow on my face. I didn't want to look away from the mirror. From one day to the next I had breasts - it was an amazing moment!

I am very happy with my result. Everything was explained to me in detail in advance and I was given the time to really decide on the procedure. Prof. Kovacs and his team took away any doubts I had and were always on hand with help and advice.
Absolutely recommendable!!! Prof. Dr. med. Kovacs took a lot of time for me during the consultation and patiently answered all my questions. I immediately felt at ease. The professional competence (and experience) as well as the sympathy were the deciding factors! The care provided by the whole team, the scheduling and the operation itself were 100% perfect. The result is even better than I had imagined.
The whole process from consultation to surgery and aftercare was first class and extremely professional. Professor Dr. Kovacs is extremely friendly, informative and without a doubt one of the best and most competent surgeons and doctors in Munich. My operation went smoothly and the healing process was also without complications. I can only recommend him to others. He and his practice team make you feel very comfortable and in very good hands. I would choose Prof. Dr. med. Kovacs again at any time!
Breast augmentation using a transfer of your own fat is an alternative if you only want one more cup. Patients who want a significantly larger bust usually opt for breast surgery with implants. This is still the standard procedure in Germany. Although no synthetic materials are introduced into the body during autologous fat treatment, there are no major long-term studies on this procedure as it is still relatively new. Breast augmentation with implants is better researched because this method has been around for longer.
The approach of combining both procedures is also quite new. On the one hand, the patient receives the desired breast size through the implants, while on the other hand, the autologous fat results in a particularly soft and natural feel. In addition, a smaller implant is sufficient here, which means a smaller scar. We would be happy to advise you on this in our practice for aesthetic plastic surgery in Munich.
Breast augmentation with implants can also be supplemented with a breast lift. For example, if the breasts begin to sag due to age-related skin laxity.
Some women not only want larger breasts, but also slimmer upper arms or a tighter stomach (for example after pregnancy as part of a mommy makeover). In this case, it makes sense to combine both operations. During a longer operation, the areas being treated are shaped according to your wishes so that you only have to take one vacation for recovery. As the general surgical risks are somewhat higher with combined operations, they are only suitable for women who are in good overall health.
We will be happy to take the time to explain the options, risks and aftercare to you. After the procedure, you will stay at Arabella Hospital for one to two days. On the one hand, you benefit from the safety of a clinic, and on the other, from the personal care provided by Prof. Dr. Kovacs. Please contact us if you would like to find out more!
In aesthetic surgery, certain examinations are necessary to ensure that the patient is in good health. This allows us to rule out any health problems that could increase the risk of complications during or after breast surgery.
We carry out a physical examination and check for any abnormalities in the female breast. Depending on your age and medical history, blood tests, a mammogram or an ultrasound of the female breast may also be necessary.
It is important that you are honest and open about your medical history and health during your personal consultation to ensure a safe and successful operation.
A tight-fitting bra should be worn for the first six weeks. In addition, smoking, sports, sauna visits and strong sunlight should be avoided for the first six weeks after the procedure in order to limit the risk of wound healing disorders. After breast augmentation with implants, we recommend an annual routine examination at our practice in Munich.
Here are some tips for patients:
It is important to be patient and give your body time to recover. However, if you have any questions or concerns, be sure to consult your cosmetic surgery specialist.
Like any operation, breast augmentation is associated with possible risks such as post-operative bleeding, wound infections or wound healing disorders. Specific risks include hardening of the breast due to capsular fibrosis and rupture (tearing) of the breast implants, which can mean premature implant removal or other follow-up operations. However, both occur very rarely. Capsular fibrosis, for example, only occurs in 2 to 3 percent of women who have implants inserted.
During your consultation, we will provide you with comprehensive information about the possible risks of breast augmentation with implants.
How the scars look after breast surgery depends on the surgical technique, the size of the implants and individual wound healing. As a rule, however, the scars are relatively small and fade over time. Prof. Dr. med. Kovacs skillfully places them in the armpit or in the breast crease so that they are hardly noticeable. Good post-operative care of the scars can also minimize their visibility. You will receive more information during your personal consultation.
Modern breast implants with cohesive silicone gel last significantly longer than older models with saline, which often needed to be replaced after 10 to 15 years. Newer implants are designed to remain in the body for a lifetime. Nevertheless, regular check-ups are advisable. Here we check whether the implants are still intact and replace them if they are damaged.
A breast augmentation with Prof. Dr. Kovacs costs 6,900 euros or above. The price depends, for example, on which implants you choose and whether the procedure will be combined with a lift. Of course, you will receive a treatment and cost plan in advance so that you have an overview of all the costs of breast surgery.
